Details:
Step into some of the most important, dangerous, and surprising moments in U.S.A. history—through the hilarious lens of the You Wouldn’t Want to Be… book series! In this interactive program, kids will explore key events in American history by imagining what it was really like to live through them.
Would you want to be a Civil War soldier marching into battle? How about a worker building the Statue of Liberty, high above the ground without safety gear? Or a passenger on the first airplane flight, risking your life in a flying machine? By visiting exploration stations that offer activities inspired by the books, children will learn about these important historical moments from a kid-friendly, engaging point of view. To continue the fun, we’ll feature a book display of You Wouldn’t Want to Be… titles, encouraging children to borrow a book and keep exploring history in this unforgettable way.
This program is intended for those heading into Grades 3-5. Located in the Children's Program Room.
If your child needs a special accommodation, please contact juliab@lowermaclib.org ahead of time and we would be more than happy to assist!
