St. Mary's Catholic Church has a rich history dating back to its inception in 1869 when Father DeChant's visit inspired its founding. Built on land purchased by James Owens following his son Paris's wish for a church, it began as a modest frame building serving scattered Catholics. Over decades, it transitioned from a mission church to a parish, eventually led by diocesan priests. Significant expansions occurred in 1967 and 1980, followed by further classroom and kitchen additions in 2007, ensuring St. Mary's continues to serve the community's spiritual needs for years to come.
