Join us for an evening focused on helping cyclists ride stronger, healthier, and longer. Joe’s 45-minute presentation (plus Q&A) will cover common cycling injuries and musculoskeletal issues, including bone health and osteoporosis prevention.
This is Part I of three clinics offered by the Cycology Women's Ride Series about injury prevention, strength training, and nutrition for healthy living.
ABOUT JOE
Joe Black, PT, DPT, SCS, ATC has been a clinician for over 48 years. Dr. Black graduated from the physical therapy program at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis in 1977 and from the Doctoral program at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga in 2007. He is a Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialist and a Certified Athletic Trainer. For 29 years, he was owner and CEO of a thriving private practice with offices in Maryville, Alcoa, and Lenoir City. He is currently Director of Professional Development at Total Rehabilitation in Maryville, Tennessee and a weekly columnist for the local newspaper. A prominent sports physical therapist, he has built one of the most proactive and progressive sports PT services in the country.
He remains active in his respective professional associations, the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the National Athletic Trainers Association, having held offices at the district, state, and national level. He is the recipient of APTA's Lucy Blair Award, both the Turner A. Blackburn Lifetime Achievement/Hall of Fame award and the Ron Peyton Award from the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy, and numerous other regional and national awards. Dr. Black is also member of the ICCUS Society, a group of elite sports physical therapists from around the world, and serves that organization as its Secretary.
He is a member of the Maryville College Sports Hall of Fame and the Blount County Sports Hall of Fame, currently serving as President of that organization. He has served at the Olympic games, Pan-Am Games, and World University Games.
Dr. Black has given over 300 formal presentations over a storied career, most focusing on sports rehabilitation, clinical practice, and leadership development.
