Looking for Lincoln - Lincoln and Douglas Marker Dedication

On Friday, July 3rd at 2:00 p.m., the Museum, in partnership with Looking for Lincoln and the City of Bloomington, will dedicate a new Looking for Lincoln Wayside Marker on the north end of the Museum Square. This marker highlights the story of Abraham Lincoln’s September 4, 1858, speech, which he delivered on a platform on the north lawn of the courthouse square during the pivotal period between the second and third Lincoln–Douglas debates. This event will be held on the north side of the Museum, off Jefferson Street, and is free and open to the public. The dedication will feature presentations by author and historian Guy Fraker, and Museum staff, who will share additional insights into this salient moment in Lincoln’s political career and its local significance. Questions? or for more information, contact the Education Department at education@mchistory.org or 309-827-0428.
