Details:
Join us at the Central Library for an enriching art experience on May 15, featuring two remarkable exhibitions. The first, "A Photobook Gallery: The Ensley Childhood Project," hosted in the Central Room's Art Gallery on the first floor, presents a non-linear timeline of the historic Ensley neighborhood through homemade family photos, archived videos, and personal narratives. This exhibition aims to shed light on the history and culture of the Ensley community, particularly the Black childhood experience. A reception for the participants and curator Timothy Quarshie will take place from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
On the fourth floor, artist Natalie Harrison will unveil "Fragments," a showcase of her textured acrylic paintings inspired by intricate jewelry and fabric designs. This exhibition will also host a reception at the same time. Both art exhibitions are made possible by grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and are open to all ages without registration.
