Hand Sculpture

Join our "Hand Sculpture" class, where you'll delve into the human hand as a powerful form and language—capable of holding, reaching, releasing, and connecting. Together, we’ll craft expressive ceramic hand sculptures that embody personal emotions, memories, or simply serve as beautiful jewelry holders.

Under the guidance of instructor Marissa Hakes, you'll learn to build a hand from clay, focusing on proportion, gesture, and surface detail. Whether you choose a realistic representation or an abstract design, this workshop encourages you to trust your instincts and let your creation reflect your feelings. Participants will select a glaze color at the end, with a turnaround time varying based on the chosen cone (2 weeks for Cone 6, 8 weeks for Cone 10).

Open to ages 16 and up and suitable for all experience levels—no prior clay experience is necessary, just a willingness to create and explore. Come as you are and leave with a piece that feels authentic and alive. Please note, refunds (minus credit card fees) are available up to 7 days before the class begins, after which the fee is non-refundable, but you may transfer your ticket to a friend.
