The Bells of Berthoud Ring Out for History
On July 4, 2026, the Berthoud Historical Society is proud to sponsor and coordinate a special ringing of the Bells of Berthoud in celebration of two remarkable anniversaries: the 250th anniversary of our nation’s independence and the 150th anniversary of Colorado’s statehood.
At 2:50 PM, symbolizing the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, bells will ring from Berthoud’s four churches with exterior bells:
Foursquare Church at Mountain Avenue and Fourth Street

Church of Christ at Sixth Street and Lake Avenue

First United Methodist Church at Tenth Street and Lake Avenue

First Presbyterian Church at Eighth Street and Massachusetts Avenue
First, all four bells will ring together for one minute. Then each church rings its bell 13 times in recognition of the original 13 colonies, followed by all four bells ringing together once more to celebrate Colorado’s statehood in 1876.
One of the best places in town to hear all four bells, and pause to take in this meaningful community moment is at Fickel Park!
