Details:
Drop-in Writing Group: Speculative Fiction: Plot and Development Meets 1st and 3rd Sundays, 3:30pm-5:30pm in the Writers Corner on the mezzanine level of the bookstore. This group is open to science fiction, fantasy, horror, magical realism, weird fiction, folk tales, and stories that include elements of the unreal. The focus of this group is on longer-form narrative works (novellas, novels, series) and will focus on the overarching development of your character and plot arcs. Each meeting, 1-2 members will present their writing project to the group, and the resulting free-form discussion will be focused on clarifying and strengthening development arcs. There is no pre-assigned reading, but members who choose to present will be asked to bring an outline of their work, preferably to be shared over Google Docs or email. If you have any questions, please email the facilitator, Deva Taylor, at devataylor3@gmail.com. Village Books hosts many writing groups (including this one!) , usually in the Writers' Corner on the mezzanine level of the store or in the Readings Gallery on the lowest level. Come meet other writers who can help you get organized, give feedback, and help you with your writing goals. These groups are free and open to newcomers and drop-ins. Feel free to just show up!
