BCHS is a nonprofit committed to preserving and promoting Bastrop's rich history. Founded in 1952 by members of the Ladies Reading Circle, the organization began with the purchase of the Cornelson-Fehr House to serve as a museum. Over the years, the Society has expanded its collection, adding dedicated rooms for pioneer artifacts and historical documents. In 2012, BCHS relocated to a renovated city hall, enhancing its visitor experience. The Visitor Center, established in 2006, promotes local heritage and tourism, supported by the City of Bastrop and local sponsors.
