Details:
The historic Ezekiel Harris House gives visitors a glimpse at life in Augusta right after the Revolutionary War. And this celebratory year is a perfect time to tour the home with family and friends. Guide Leroy Linen leads tours every other Saturday with the first tour starting at 10am and the last at 4pm. Tours available this spring are April 4, 18, May 2, 16, 30, and June 13 and 27. The home is small so spots are limited to 10 people during each tour. Admission is just $7.00 for adults, $6.00 for Seniors 65 and older, $5.00 for children ages 6-17 and Children 5 and under are free. *Please note that due to the historic nature of the home, this is not a handicap accessible location.
A little history behind the home: Ezekiel Harris was born in Edgefield County in 1757 and served in the Revolutionary War. Harris started building the home with a view of the Savannah River in 1797. The property served as the main residence for his family but also as a stop for tobacco merchants that needed their crop inspected and also needed a ferry across the River.
