Details:
The Kennedy Museum of Art in Athens, Ohio, is currently featuring two engaging exhibitions that highlight the intersection of art, craftsmanship, and cultural history.
"Waves of Influence" showcases significant works from a transformative era in printmaking, highlighting the innovative visions of renowned artists such as David Hockney, Helen Frankenthaler, Robert Rauschenberg, and Frank Stella. These artists expanded the boundaries of traditional print techniques, introducing new materials and perspectives.
In addition, "Material Matters," set to run from April 10, 2026, to March 21, 2027, will be curated and created by 26 undergraduate and graduate students from Ohio University’s Museum Studies Program. This exhibition will explore the importance of craftsmanship and the ways materials communicate cultural narratives, preserving community histories, with support from the Ohio University Libraries and Southeast Ohio History Center.
Both exhibitions are free to the public and operate under the generous sponsorship of the Ohio Arts Council. The museum's galleries are open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Thursday from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with closed hours on Mondays. Donations are appreciated to support ongoing programming.
