ReelAbilities Houston Presents

ReelAbilities Houston and Houston Public Library invite families to a special ReelEducation event at the Central Library, presented through the Alexander Institute for Inclusion as part of the ReelAbilities Houston Film & Arts Festival. This engaging, family-friendly program will feature a compelling feature-length film that explores themes of disability, inclusion, and resilience, followed by a guest speaker who will share personal insights and help bring the film’s message to life. As part of the broader ReelEducation initiative, designed to reach youth across Greater Houston with meaningful film experiences that challenge perceptions, reduce stigma, and promote acceptance. This event offers audiences of all ages a welcoming space to learn, reflect, and be inspired to help build a more inclusive community.

ABOUT THE FILM: RALLY CAPS follows a young baseball player whose dream of pitching for a Little League travel team is shattered by a devastating injury. Haunted and reclusive, he attends summer camp where he meets a boy who is deaf and who recently received cochlear implant surgery. Together, they overcome personal fears, support each other, and navigate challenges to lead their team to the championship game.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: JEFFREY FEINSTEIN is a native Houstonian and a proud board member of Alexander JFS. In 2018, Jeffrey sustained a high-level spinal cord injury while on vacation with his wife and friends in Mexico. At the time of the injury, Jeffrey’s children were 5 years old (George and Joshua) and one years old (Julia). Among the many goals, he had in mind through his rehab rehabilitation, being active with his children was of the highest priority.

As Jeffrey improved his strength, he channeled his before-injury devotion of running to push himself to find new adaptive exercises to stay active. Physical health and mental health work hand-in-hand to improve Jeffrey’s outlook on life every day.

An avid sports fan, Jeffrey pride himself on the ability to attend as many events as he can with his kids (Final Four, amazing World Series games, and Texas Longhorns football and basketball) in addition to being present at his kids' games and matches. Sports and activity are a tremendous outlet for any individual and Jeffrey is very excited to moderate this evening’s event with stellar athletes on the panel who prove an old adage for a proud bogey golfer, “it doesn’t matter how, but how many!”
