Join us for "Geology of the Blue Ridge I," a captivating first class in a two-part Geology course led by Anton DuMars on Thursday, August 13, from 12 to 4 PM at the BRN – Core. This course will delve into the geologic history of the Southern Appalachian Mountains, featuring lectures, discussions, and self-guided field explorations. Topics include the earth's interior, plate tectonics, the formation of the southern Appalachians, and the current geological processes affecting the region, such as earthquakes, mass movements, and floods. Anton DuMars, an adjunct professor from Black Mountain, NC, brings his expertise in fluvial, deltaic, and coastal processes, combined with a passion for hiking and sailing.
