Details:
Join us for a weekend of impactful events aimed at raising awareness about domestic violence and celebrating the voices of the African Diaspora. The highlight will be the "Tiny Movements" Opening Night Benefit on June 25, featuring the award-winning documentary that shares local dance artist Jenn Green's inspiring journey to overcome domestic violence through dance. The evening will include live music by Leah Song of Rising Appalachia, a film screening, and a panel discussion with professionals to elevate awareness and provide resources. Guests will enjoy complimentary refreshments and appetizers, with a portion of proceeds benefiting My Sister’s Place, a local domestic violence and sexual assault service agency. Additionally, on every fourth Thursday, join the Black Experience Book Club hosted by YMI’s Director of Community Engagement, alexandria ravenel, at the YMI Cultural Center or Noir Collective AVL, focusing on literature that celebrates the histories and futures of the African Diaspora. For details on locations and RSVPs, please contact alexandria ravenel at alexandria@ymiculturalcenter.org.
