High School Art Immersion Experience

The 2026 High School Art Immersion Camp is a one-week program designed for high school students graduating in 2027, 2028 or 2029. This camp will provide participants with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the creative process through diverse art workshops, portfolio building, and mentorship from RMCAD faculty and practicing artists.

Workshops

Animation: Visual Character Development
Explore the fundamentals of character design by creating original animated characters from concept to final sketch. Through drawing, storytelling, and visual problem-solving, participants will develop personalities, expressions, and styles that bring their creations to life.

Photography Workshop: Cyanotype + Photograms
Using light-sensitive cyanotype paper, students will create striking blue-and-white photographic prints with objects, cut paper, and natural materials. This session blends photography, composition, and experimentation in a process that feels both historic and contemporary.

Printmaking Studio: Monoprint + Relief Basics
Students will create bold printed artwork using simple monoprint and relief methods. The workshop introduces repetition, pattern, positive/negative space, and surface design while allowing students to produce multiple finished prints.

Smartphone Filmmaking: How to Shoot a Cinematic Short on Your Phone
Using only a smartphone, students will learn how to plan, shoot, and edit a short film with a cinematic look. This session introduces camera techniques, composition, lighting, and storytelling while demonstrating the creative potential of everyday technology.

Art History: Elements and Principles
Examine how artists use the elements and principles of design to create impactful works of art across cultures and time periods. Through observation, discussion, and hands-on activities, participants will build visual literacy and a deeper understanding of artistic expression.
