250 Exhibit: Bicentennial 1976

Details:

The Arlington Historical Museum is hosting a special 250 Exhibit, celebrating over 250 years of local history and heritage, coinciding with the nation's upcoming 250th anniversary. Featured within the exhibit are significant displays like "Bicentennial 1976," which reflects on how these patriotic celebrations shaped public memory through memorabilia, and "Who Decides? Governing Arlington Through Time," exploring the evolution of local governance and civic power dynamics. Visitors can also enjoy various temporary exhibits that cover a range of topics from Indigenous Peoples to contemporary events, alongside the permanent exhibit "Building Minds, Shaping Futures," which highlights the history of public schools in Arlington. The museum, housed in the historic Hume School, is open free of charge on Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM and Sundays from 1 PM to 4 PM, inviting the community to engage with history, learn, and find unique keepsakes in the Museum Store. Don't forget to ring the school bell during your visit!
