Join us for "Geology of the Blue Ridge I," the first class in a two-part Geology course led by Anton DuMars on Thursday, August 13, from 12 to 4 PM at the BRN – Core. This engaging course will explore the geologic history of the Southern Appalachian Mountains through lectures, discussions, and self-guided field explorations. Topics covered will include the earth's interior, plate tectonics, the formation of the southern Appalachians, and current geological processes such as earthquakes, mass movements, and floods. Anton DuMars, an adjunct professor from Black Mountain, NC, specializes in fluvial, deltaic, and coastal processes and enjoys hiking and sailing.
