Dead Sea Scrolls and the Bible

Since 1908, the Biola community has focused on knowing the Bible and making it known to those in the broader Los Angeles area and around the world. The Dead Sea Scrolls and the Bible exhibit and lecture series continues this Biola legacy by emphasizing the historic continuity and authority of the biblical manuscripts from antiquity to today. The exhibit will center on world-class facsimiles of several Dead Sea Scrolls, including the Great Isaiah Scroll, to show how the Bible has remained unchanged for millennia. The exhibit will also include authentic coins and pottery from the historical period that the Dead Sea Scrolls were written, as well as authentic manuscript and printed Bibles (or Bible pages) from the 12th through 17th centuries, including Gutenberg and King James. Leading scholars at Biola will also address various aspects of the Dead Sea Scrolls and what the discovery of these texts at Qumran in 1947 meant for the Jewish people, for Christians, and for Biblical scholarship.
