Visible Mending Sit & Sew

Have an old favorite band tee, coveted pair of pants, beloved wool sweater or other item of clothing that has holes in it but you can’t bear to part with? Try visible mending to bring it back to life!
Visible mending is a great way to prolong your clothing while giving it extra character and not needing to worry about how neat of a mender you are. Using just a handful of materials (floss, needle, fabric patch, and possibly an embroidery hoop), you can patch your clothing to help them last longer and look even more stylish.
Bring an item or two of clothing to class that needs some mending and you’ll go home with that item mended or on the road to mending depending on the amount of mends needed. Minimal sewing experience is required (be able to thread a needle). You’ll learn when you need to use extra fabric to mend or can just get by with the thread and needle, how to select the right patch for the mend, how to secure the patch to clothing while you are mending and how to finish up the mend. You’ll also learn some basic stitches and stitch patterns to make the mend both decorative and functional.
