First Friday | Jazz Jam: Generations of Trane

Join us for the inaugural First Friday | Jazz Jam: Generations of Trane at the San José Museum of Art, in partnership with San Jose Jazz, celebrating the opening night of the San Jose Jazz Summer Fest. This special 3-hour event features saxophonist Michael Webster and his Quartet as they guide a participatory jazz jam focused on the legendary John Coltrane. Attendees can join in the music-making, exploring Coltrane's diverse repertoire from his early hard bop days to his avant-garde period, fostering a vibrant jazz community where everyone can contribute, whether by playing an instrument, singing, or simply enjoying the performance.

The evening also includes open galleries and entertainment, with free admission after 6 PM. Guests can enjoy late-night bites and drinks at El Cafecito, with member discounts available, as well as shopping at the Museum Store with special offers for members. Supported by various organizations and donors, SJMA's First Fridays aim to provide engaging cultural experiences for all.
