Details:
Join us for an engaging astronomy lecture titled "The Roman Space Telescope: NASA’s Next Great Observatory," presented by senior research scientist Lee Armus, a member of the NASA Roman team. This event will delve into the capabilities and anticipated discoveries of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, which is set to launch in September 2026. Combining the sharp imaging of the Hubble Space Telescope with an expansive field of view, the Roman Space Telescope will enable groundbreaking surveys of the Universe, including the search for exoplanets, mapping dark matter, and exploring the nature of dark energy and galactic evolution.
The lecture will be followed by a panel Q&A featuring astrophysicists who will address audience questions on a variety of astronomy and space science topics. This public event is free and open to all, taking place in-person and live-streamed on YouTube Live. Attendees can participate in 30 minutes of lecture, followed by a 90-minute telescope-aided stargazing session and interactive Q&A.
