Mark your calendars for a special edition of Music in the Gardens, a throwback to Boats, Blues, and BBQ. Before there even was the Legacy Gardens, we were rocking it out on the museum campus. Now, for our 20th anniversary season, we're throwing it back to this iconic event with a Saturday concert featuring, you guessed it, Boats, Blues, and BBQ. And in honor of our 20th Anniversay, this will be a free concert!
Starting at 1:00 pm, we'll have:-Free museum admission with guided gallery tours-Silent Auction-Cornhole Tournament-$1.50 Hot Dogs and a cash/credit bar-Lawn Games-Activities for kids-& more!
The FREE concert featuring Chicago bluesman Toronzo Cannon will begin at 6:30 pm! Bring your own chair or blanket and sit ANYWHERE in the Legacy Gardens (there is no reserved seating section). For a $5 donation, the museum will have chairs available. We'll also have BBQ from The Depot Smokehouse and Tavern and a cash/credit bar as well.
We're featuring a celebrated blues guitarist out of Chicago, Toronzo Cannon. With his richly detailed, truth-telling original songs, blistering, inventive guitar work and impassioned vocals, Cannon is on the cutting edge of today's contemporary blues scene and is known as one of the genre's most creative artists. His sound is inspired by his heroes, including Hound Dog Taylor, Muddy Waters, Elmore James, Albert King, Son Seals and Jimi Hendrix. From serious to humorous, his imaginative songs are fueled by his powerful, cathartic guitar solos and his soulfully authoritative voice.
