Motorcycle Basic Rider Course

Important Information for Basic Rider Course Registrants:
PLEASE NOTE: These courses are offered in AM and PM Sessions on Saturdays and Sundays Starting on the dates listed. Please visit registration link to view all available times.
E-COURSE (Required): The MSF Basic eCourse is a 5‑hour online learning program. It is interactive and provides essential motorcycling knowledge for riders of all experience levels.
You must complete this eCourse before attending the Basic Rider Course.
MSF-CERTIFIED RiderCoach:
You will receive 11 hours of hands‑on riding practice with a certified RiderCoach.
Range exercises include:
Straight‑line riding
Stopping
Shifting
Turning
Swerving
Emergency braking
Skills build gradually to support safe learning.
MOTORCYCLES: Provided for all the students enrolled in the Basic Rider Course.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
ATTENDANCE: You must attend the entire course. If you arrive late, you will be dismissed and your registration fee will not be refunded.
ABILITY & SAFETY:
You must be able to ride and balance a bicycle.
You must safely control the motorcycle during all exercises.
Instructors may dismiss any student who creates a safety risk for themselves or others.
PERMITS - Permit info: Minnesota Motorcycle License Endorsement
Adults (18+)
Adults (18 and older)
You must show a valid Minnesota motorcycle permit.
Expired permits are accepted if they expired less than one year ago.

Minors (16-17)
You must have a valid driver’s license.
If you pass the course, you will receive completion cards that allow you to take the motorcycle permit test and the skills test at a DVS exam station.

Important:
If you have failed a state or Minnesota Motorcycle Safety Center (MMSC) skills test twice, you are not eligible for a state skills test waiver. You must take the skills test at a DVS exam station.
