Berkeley native, saxophonist and composer Jessica Jones is active as an educator and performer on both coasts. She leads her eponymous quartet with long-time collaborator and husband Tony Jones, featuring their original music. As a sideperson, she has worked with Joseph Jarman, Cecil Taylor, and Don Cherry. She composed an opera, is a Jerome Fellow, an M3 Luminary awardee, and has received grants from JazzRoad and the NEA. Jones is an innovative jazz educator, working with children on oral tradition-based improvisation and composition for Jazz at Lincoln Center and others, and teaching at Bard College. She cofounded and directs REVA, Inc, a creative arts non-profit focusing on healing communities.
