The Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of the Village of Lake Placid and the Town of North Elba. Established in 1948 and chartered by the New York State Board of Regents, the society operates The History Museum in the historic Lake Placid train station. Their mission is to provide educational and enriching historical experiences for both residents and visitors, showcasing the unique evolution of the Adirondack region from a farming community to a world-class destination. The society also hosts a popular Winter Speaker Series and makes past programs available online.
