About the book: At age 8, orphaned, precocious Wildfire seems destined to a life of selling her handmade crafts to Niagara Falls tourist alongside her Ojibwe aunts. But Wildfire's older half-brother Samuel, has been making others plans for his gifted sister. Soon, she is set on a new path-and with it comes her birth name, Edmonia. A revelation about her true origins. This is based on the true story of pioneering Black Neoclassical sculptor Edmonia Lewis. About the author: Brianne Baker is an author and professor who has taught course in creative writing and academic at Columbia University and NY University. She lives in NYC with her husband, their son & their Shiba Inu. This is Brianne's debut novel.
